Rossi raises pressure with Ducati talk.

Valentino Rossi has increased the pressure on Yamaha to produce an instantly-competitive 2008 YZR-M1 by publicly pondering a future switch to Ducati.

Rossi's existing Yamaha contract expires at the end of next season and, having lost the MotoGPtitle for the past two years - most recently to Ducati's new star Casey Stoner - the relationship between Rossi and Yamaha, which started so perfectly with world championship victories in 2004 and 2005, appears to have become more strained.

As part of his determination to win back the MotoGP crown, Rossi has left Michelin to join Stoner on Bridgestonetyres in 2008 - forcing the factory Yamaha team to be split in two for next season - and, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, The Doctor hints that he is also be prepared to switch manufacturer if that's what it takes to return to the top.

Having been summoned to appear in front of the World Motor Sport Council, Renaulthas issued a lengthy statement to clarify its position in the latest twist to the Formula 1spying saga.

In the statement, the Enstone-based outfit confirms that a team member – engineer Phil Mackereth - was in possession of information from McLaren, who he left to join the regie in September 2006.

More than twelve months later, in September this year, senior officials within the team discovered that Mackereth had brought information with him from Woking – including McLarenengineering drawings and some technical spreadsheets – which were loaded onto his personal directory on the Renault F1Team file system, without the knowledge of any authority figures within the team.

It seems that, in the automotive world, keeping grudges would not be a clever move. Damaging to prospects of unification, recalling the past politically can hinder growth that would only be of benefit in the long term.

Walter Owen Bentley, or “W.O.” as he was affectionately known, used to manufacture engine components for the British Sopwith Camel - an aircraft of dubious maneuverability - used extensively in World War 1 when the British were fighting the Germans.

Some have said that W.O. would turn in his grave if he knew that it was a German company that now owned the rights to his British namesake marque. But look at what Volkswagen has achieved. Along with the re-invigoration of the Arnage, the VW Group has introduced the Continental GT, Continental Flying Spur, the Azure convertible and the new Continental GTC convertible.



Bentley has been bailed out a few times. The brothers Bentley won Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930 - taking the first four places in 1929. Yet despite their apparent success, financial difficulty ensued. In 1931, just before Bentley was to close the doors, Rolls-Royce stepped in and bought the Bentley name.

After years of being built side by side at Crewe in England, Rolls-Royce gradually let Bentley slip, until most recently, Volkswagen came to the rescue in 1998. The synergy was effective, allowing British craftsmanship to combine with German engineering and reliability, producing a car that even W.O. would have been proud of.
Bentley has been very careful to stick to the formula that made the company famous - extremely powerful yet smooth engine, luxurious interior, predictable, sporty suspension, and road presence. In 1952, Bentley introduced the R-Type Continental, a two-door coupe which was followed in 1957 by the Continental Flying Spur. Echoing this, in 2002 the Continental GT was released, followed in 2005 by the Flying Spur.

Fans attending a market research sitting for Hyundai have taken photos of the next generation Tiburon. Currently named Genesis coupe, it is unclear whether or not Hyundai will drop the Tiburon name.

Sitting next to a Ford Mustang, of all cars, it seems that Hyundai is aiming for the sky. The car is set to officially début at next month’s Los Angeles motor show with sales starting late next year.
Confirmed specifications indicate a rear-wheel-drive platform with a 194kW V6 engine. There is also the possibility of a range-topping V8, using Hyundai’s latest Tau’ V8 engine. As mentioned before, Hyundai continues to deny a turbocharged 2.0-litre unit, one engine which we have all been hoping for.

It’s hard to say too much from the side-on photos, but it does have a Lexus look to it.
Other improvements include a limited slip differential as well as Brembo brakes (option). There will be a choice of either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual.
